My work is particularly inspired by the Glasgow Style and the work of Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh, whose flowing lines, female figures and distinctive use of natural forms continue to fascinate me. From there, I have developed my own world of flowers, figures, symbolism and storytelling.

How the Art Screens began

The first Art Screen I made was actually for my own home. It had just two panels and, once finished, I discovered that I had got the proportions completely wrong — it was too low and too wide for the space. Had I made it with three panels, I could simply have folded it a little further and it would have worked perfectly. So I put it on Etsy instead. It sold within two weeks.

But by then something else had happened. I had loved making it. There was something exciting about painting across several panels and seeing them come together to create a little world of their own. I wanted to make another, and then another. Art Screens gradually became the heart of what I do. I want my screens to bring something genuinely individual into a home — not simply an artwork to look at, but a piece that has presence, changes a space and brings with it a little sense of magic.

From the screen to the wall
More recently, I began creating Wall Art alongside some of my Art Screens. It gives me the chance to explore a story a little further, taking elements from a screen and allowing them to develop into another work. I love the idea of an Art Screen and its companion Wall Art inhabiting the same room, creating a connection across the space. But the wall pieces can also stand entirely on their own, giving those who love my work but don't have space for an Art Screen another way to bring it into their home.

The same world, captured in a different way.

I create Art Screens and Wall Art that bring together my love of storytelling, nature and the decorative beauty of the past.
